Hair Cut - Best day in a long time

On Thursday, Lexi had her best day in a long time, although I didn't think it was gonna be that way at first.    The day before I made her four new hats, all with a gold ribbon embroidered on them.  She loves her hats and wanted me to make more.  Then, when we first got up in the morning, she didn't want to get dressed, didn't want to get going.  Finally made it out the door and headed to Trenda's to drop off Annie.  Lexi did not like that she didn't get to go in and play with KJ.  I had to bribe her with hash browns to get her to calm down.  She was telling me she didn't want to go get a hair cut.  Great.

By the time we got to Sweet & Sassy she had come around and was willing to get her hair cut.  She didn't care at all as the stylist used the clippers to buzz her hair off.  She was more interested in watching Frozen on the TV, with sound you couldn't even hear over the clippers.  Funny how she will watch it when we are out places, but has no interest in watching it at home (not that I mind).  After her hair cut, the stylist offered her a pink hat, white hat, or yellow headband.  She, of course, chose the yellow headband that clashed horribly with her dress. But she was cute anyway.  And told me she loved her "little hairs".

After the hair cut, we went across the street to see if we could do photos at Portrait Innovations.  She did fairly well there.  She was good for the first few shots, got cranky for a while, then got good again at the end.  For the last few shots I finally got her to take off the yellow headband, and put on one of her hats!  As always, I spent more then I wanted to.  But at least that yellow headband made it easy to keep it to only two poses!  She is just so stinkin cute!

After photos, we went to Red Robin for lunch.  Lexi got to sit next to me, color, have mac and cheese, oranges, juice, and then the waitress brought her a special sundae and a balloon since we were having a special day.  Lexi was all smiles and giggles the whole time we were there.  It melted my heart for sure.  Since we had just learned about her being moved to very high risk the afternoon before, I had been feeling a bit down.  Her giggles and smiles made everything better.  How could I be sad when she was so happy!

After lunch, she wanted Mommy to get a hair cut too.  We've always gotten hair cuts the same day before, so I agreed.  I just didn't get "little hairs".  I know when I look like with a shaved head from shunt surgery, and no one needs to see my scars or shunt lumps. After that I went and got my glasses adjusted.  Then we went to Barnes & Nobel and Lexi got to pick out a new train.  She picked a Percy that makes chugging sounds that sounds faster the faster you push it!  Goes well with the talking Thomas she already has.

After all that, we went back to Trenda's to pick up Annie.  Lexi had a lot of fun playing with KJ.  That was the most I've seen her want to move in a long time.  All the kids were having such fun, Shawn ended up coming over after work and we had dinner together.  The adults and little ones had a pizza party.  But Lexi and KJ had a Cheerios party.  They had so much fun together, they are so crazy!  When it came time to finally leave, there were, of course, lots of tears.  Even though she was exhausted, Lexi did not want to leave.  She never does.  But over all she had a great day, and could care less that she now has "little hairs".  I'm very glad she had such a wonderful day!
