Coping

In general, as a family, we are doing as well as we can at this point.  I've had my moments where I've broken down.  But I try not to dwell there, I know it won't change anything.   It is what it is.  We are in a great hospital with great team and great plan.  All we can do it try to keep ourselves together and help Lexi kick this things ass.

We are truly blessed with the love and support being offered by family, friends and coworkers.  One of the members of Lexi's care team is Rose, a social worker.  She has told us that our new favorite words need to be "yes" and "thank you".  It can be very hard to accept help.  Especially when you don't even know how people can help you.  But we are trying to follow Rose's advice.  We know it is essential for surviving this.  Please know that we are very thankful for all offers of help.  Many of you have said you want to help, but don't know how.  Unfortunately, at this point, neither do we. Accepting help is hard.  Asking for it is even harder.

For those that have offered to donate blood to Lexi, we are not too concerned with directed donations.  Plus we never know when and what she will need (red blood cells or platelets).  But if you want to donate blood, please do!  You many not be helping us directly, but lets keep the blood bank full!  Lexi will likely receive more transfusions throughout this journey.

We have had many offers to bring us food.  This is truly appreciated.  Thanks to my mommies group, we have set up a schedule on TakeThemAMeal.com for anyone interested.  No longer active.  And again, Thank You!
