We have been enjoying being home as a family. I can't speak for Lexi, but I know I enjoy being home in my own bed. Now if we could just get Lexi off the hospital schedule of awake around 4am. She likes to wake up, and then space out her requests. First she wants a tuck-in. Waits until you are almost sleep again, and asks for a hug. Then water. Then food. Then another tuck-in. Then more food. Before you know it, the sun is up and Annie is awake, and Lexi is ready for a nap.
Lexi continues to have her good moods and bad moods. I have lost count of the times I've been told to be quiet. And of course her favorite word is still NO! I swear, she is a three year old teenager! I can only imagine what she will be like as an actual teenager. And I will take what ever she can dish out just to have her here.
And in true Lexi style, she is too smart for her own good. She knows which foods are being spiked with meds. It doesn't matter if I mix the miralax into a drink with her in the room or not. She knows. I think we fooled her today, have to wait and see if it goes as well tomorrow.
Yesterday morning she asked for a grilled cheese cut like a kite, which is her normal slicing request. Means she wants four triangles. Later she asked for another grilled cheese, this time cut like a hexagon. She is clearly not my child. Nope. Not at all. ;)
I was asked today about what Lexi was currently into. Since the list I gave made the person smile, I figured I'd share:
-people not poking her
-the word NO!
-un-spiked food
-Thomas
-Dinosaur train
-Hello Kitty
-Puzzles
-Sesame Street
Today we had our first visit to the outpatient clinic. We got to meet the staff and learn our way around. Among many other things, they have two Thomas train tables to play with. This made Lexi very happy. She also got to have a red icee after the finger prick to check her blood levels. Her labs came back very well, both her red and platelet counts have gone up since her last test in the hospital.
On Tuesday we will return to the clinic for Lexi's next round of chemo. They will again be checking her numbers, and giving a transfusion if needed. She also has an appointment earlier that day for physical therapy. Hopefully we can get her some strength back in her legs so she can be more mobile soon. If not, Mommy and Daddy will end up in PT from having to carry Lexi everywhere! As of right now, she can crawl or she can walk if we are holding hands to support her. She can stand on her own, though she doesn't like to. She is also able to climb up/slide down the steps. She is, of course, willing to do more of all of the above when she is in a good mood and we offer the right bribe.
